We use a stainless steel ferrule instead of a copper flare because a copper flare will wear out quickly. Cheap, thin walled copper pipe (DWV) is used by the copycats of our products in order to make the flare on the end of the pipe. DWV (Drain Waste Vent) pipe is very soft, will crack over time and should not be used on wear points. Beware of rubber gaskets on copycat parts, they will leach chemicals into your alcohol. We use alcohol resistant gaskets. The high grade stainless steel ferrules that we use are silver brazed (not soldered) with food grade silver and will not leak - ever.

Our copper pipe is heavy duty thick walled type L. These mini still heads include a digital thermometer and a stainless steel tri-clamp & gasket. The included copper union is ready for attaching to 1/2 copper pipe, which can be easily necked down to copper tubing for a worm coil. These will work on most beer kegs and commercially available 2 inch kettles. The threaded thermometer connection is 1/2 FPT and will accept a digital thermometer with the included adapter, or it can be upgraded to a dial thermometer in the future.
