This is a custom designed REFLUX STILL, designed to distill different types of liquids but more commonly used to make GIN and other spirits by the vapour infusion method (same technique as Bombay Sapphire, among others). I have spotted a demand for these recently so I have adapted the design from a traditional style, but also made an improvement over the traditional style (and over another artisan maker listing his items on YouTube) whereby I've NOT put the water feed through the bottom pipe, but added a cork where you can tie the pipe against the cork instead, for added structural stability. It's not flimsy, and it makes use of more expensive copper, But it's an improvement over the original design as you would end up with warm water entering the bottom of the condenser, where you really want the coldest possible! Well, I've done the legwork and you'll get the right sizes of pipe to make it work, all you'll need to supply, as I don't know how far your sink is from your cooker, is standard hose, which you may well have in your garden already.

You'll also need to supply something to connect the standard hose to your tap. Again, taps differ, so this is the only other thing you need. Choice of material for the reflux column is a personal thing. You'll need either copper saddles, flower arrangers glass beads, baking beans or anything else you need to add mass and surface area. Even an old plate, broken into small bits, would do the trick.

If you've any questions, just ask. It'll still work though even if you put nothing in here. You also get the fitting for your pressure cooker lid - it's a standard water tank fitting - but you'll need to drill a hole in the lid of your pressure cooker. The column is a generous 28mm in diameter, which is just a bit smaller than a champagne / Prosecco cork. This makes the sealing of the top of the still very easy, and for adding a bag of your botanicals when youre ready.

The cork can be drilled easily to allow insertion of a digital thermometer for accurate temperature monitoring at the head of the still. The column is 500mm tall throughout the 28mm diameter, which will give you great control over the distilling process.

If you plan on using a cooker of 10 litres or more, Id recommend upgrading to the 35mm diameter column still. This will give you even more control and increased output speed. Please see my other listing for this Premium Still. I s it lead free?

A - yes, all solder is lead free. I researched this very carefully and chose only certified lead free solder.
